1. What should an employee do if he/she is hurt after hours?

Notify supervisor immediately. Injured worker may seek treatment at East TN Medical Group Care Today Clinic or Blount Memorial Hospital ER.

2. Can an employee be terminated for reporting a work related injury?

No.

3. Are prescriptions covered?

Prescriptions written by the Authorized Treating Physician may be approved. However, compound creams and medications require precertification.

4. Can an employee use a pharmacy of his/her choice?

Blount County Government uses Blount Discount Pharmacy, Walgreens, and the Dispensary at East TN Medical Group for workers’ compensation prescriptions. Mail Order Pharmacy is also used for frequent refills. If an employee pays for an authorized prescription, turn in receipts to Risk Management and the employee will be reimbursed.

5. Can an employee be reimbursed for the mileage to/from workers’ compensation physician appointment?

Yes. The employee is reimbursed for travel beyond a 15 mile radius, or a 30 mile round trip of home or work. The current mileage rate is based on the current mileage allowance for state employees.

A mileage form must be completed by employee and submitted to Risk Management for reimbursement. A mileage form can be obtained through the Risk Management office. The current state travel regulations can be found at the Tennessee State Government website.

6. Can an employee go to his/her doctor or chiropractor of choice?

The employee should choose from the Panel of Physicians (C-42) for workers’ compensation to pay; unless otherwise approved by Risk Management.

7. What should an employee do if he/she receives a medical bill?

Submit it to Risk Management office and contact Lindsey Jackson at 865-273-5771.

8. When do workers’ compensation benefits end?

When an employee returns to work.
