The Blount County Sheriff's Office Basic Regional Law Enforcement Academy began in September 2007. The POST-approved 12-week academy instructs recruits in:

The Blount County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a 12-week "Basic Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy" approved by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission for Tennessee. The Blount County Sheriff's Office Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy cannot accept private pay, all recruits must be sponsored by a law enforcement agency.

Cost $3,000 Per Applicant
Tuition + Meal plan available for recruits staying in the dormitory ($3,350.00)
