Blount County Highway Department Postpones Public Meetings
Today, the Blount County Highway Department announced that two previously scheduled public meetings have been postponed.
The first meeting postponed was scheduled on March 23rd to discuss citizens’ concerns around the Walker Road area in Blount County.
The second meeting was scheduled for April 9th and revolved around the planned improvements to be made to Morganton Road. This meeting would have also included an update on the North Springview Bridge which was recently closed due to safety concerns.
These postponements are due to world events affecting the gathering of large groups of people.
Highway Superintendent Jeff Headrick noted, “While these meetings were scheduled to address very important matters, the safety and welfare of our citizens are the most immediate issues we face at this moment.”
These public meetings will be rescheduled when it is safe to allow all the stakeholders to attend. When they are rescheduled, there will be a public notice of the new dates, times and places of these meetings.Contact: Don Walker 865-982-4652
Blount County and the City of Maryville have partnered with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to embark on a planning process to result in the improvement of approximately 2.3 miles of Morganton Road from it’s intersection with Foothills Mall Drive to the intersection of William Blount Drive.
